Looking for that last minute present for the sewing enthusiast in your life? I’ve got you covered with this short blog post outlining five options for Christmas gifts that you don’t even need to leave your sofa to buy….
1. A PDF sewing or dressmaking pattern – Most of the independent sewing pattern companies now offer a lot, if not all, of their patterns in PDF format. So if you are short on time and have missed the Christmas postage for a physical pattern, don’t fret, just buy the PDF version. You could print out the front page and pop it in a card as something to give on the day and then email the files. Here are some independent pattern companies that you could consider:
2. An online course – Several companies now offer online sewing courses that you can take from the comfort of your own home. An ideal gift which you can order online and forward on the link. Here are a few options:
3. A gift voucher - If you’d like to buy your friend / family member some sewing supplies or fabric but you’re not quite sure what to get, why not buy a gift voucher for their favourite sewing shop. Here’s some suggestions:
4. Patreon Membership – Patreon – if you haven’t heard of it is a platform for creators to run a subscription service for their followers. I’m a member of Gertie’s Patreon and I would say its amazing value for money. There is a new pattern available to members each month with a very detailed instructional sew-along video along with lots of other benefits. I actually asked for this as a gift from my partner last year and have really enjoyed it over the course of 2023, so much so, I will be continuing my membership into 2024. All the details are here:
5. 1:1 Sewing lessons – an ideal gift for someone looking to start sewing or who needs some support with a project they are working on. If you are in the Harrogate / Knaresborough area, I offer one to one lessons and I’m happy to take a block booking as a gift for someone. See my tuition page here or email me at amy@dressbyamy.co.uk for more information.
Hopefully that gives you a few ideas if you are struggling for sewing related presents in the last few days before Christmas.
This will be my last post of 2023, so wishing you a very Happy Christmas and a relaxing New Year. See you in 2024!
